Book Drive 2011
In January of 2011, West Maple Elementary School of Bloomfield Hills asked their students and parents to bring in gently used books and board games. Their goal for the student population was 2000 books. They exceeded their goal and collected approximately 2700 books in one week.
The purpose of the book drive was to collect books so that they could be redistributed back to the classrooms. Teachers always need new/more books.
88 board games were also collected and distributed. The board games are used for educational purposes as well as indoor recess.
It is refreshing to have a worthwhile event that focuses on reusing, recycling and charity.
